Photos cleanup
On the last day of the year, I decided to clean up my personal photo collection. It is something like a new year's resolution to do some uncluttering in my digital collection.
This collection includes family photos created using various types of digital cameras, as well as those created using analogue cameras and scanned into digital form.
Before the cleanup, I had almost 10,000 pictures, about 40GB in size. This is a lot. It was too much for me to handle, so I decided to remove pictures that met the following criteria:
- blurry picture
- overexposed and underexposed pictures I am not able to fix
- with people I don't know
- with people eating
- with people doing something stupid
- created temporary (like pictures of business cards)
It took me about 4 hours to review them all. As a result, I was able to get rid of more than 2,200 pictures, saving about 8GB of space.
