Ubuntu 22.04 for work
Finally I was able to work for my main client using Linux. For the past years I was stuck to HP laptops (mostly) with Windows, as it was "not technically possible" to use Linux.
I got a Dell XPS 13 9310 laptop with Intel i7-11855G7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD drive. It runs customized version of Ubuntu 22.04 with Gnome 42.9.
First impressions
Laptop is thin, light and well build. The keyboard is nice with big keys and comfortable mouse pad.
Gnome in its default form looks good. I had to change the size of the Dock to take less space and remap some of the default key bindings.
Software
OS has some default software installed including Chrome browser, Libre Office sute, basic networking tools.
Additionally I had to install some of the tools I need like terminator for terminal emulation, terraform, aws cli, jfrog cli, docker, ansible, slack, helix as main text editor, kate as IDE; all of this without using snap which I don't like.
Battery
Normally I do not need long battery life as in most cases I work from home with the laptop connected to the power source. However, as I am working long way from home today, it is nice knowing I have about 8 hours of juice in Power Saving mode with brightness set to 50%.
Summary
As for now Ubuntu 22.04 on a Dell XPS makes a good impression. I will share my experience working with it after some time of using it. I will compare it to the MacBook Air that I have for more than 6 months now.
